Mike Hellyer

Director of Sports Science & Performance

Mike Hellyer completed a Master of Science in Sport Biomechanics while playing for the University of Manitoba men’s hockey team, where he was team captain and represented Canada at the FISU Games. Mike has both teaching and research experience in many disciplines at the university level, including Exercise Physiology and Advanced Biomechanics.

Prior to university, Mike played for the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL), where he was captain during his final season. Post-graduation, he played for the Quad City Mallards of the Central Hockey League where he was named the CHL rookie of the year and took part in training camp for the Iowa Wild (AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild). He is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA and a published author in the International Journal of Kinesiology & Sports Science. Mike has experience both evaluating and training athletes at all levels including the NHL, AHL, WHL, and all the way through the minor hockey ranks.
