Integration: Training is structured to align with athletes’ on-ice schedule (in July & August) ensuring that off-ice work supports on-ice performance rather than competing with it.
Long-TermDevelopment : Our programming follows a long-term athlete development model that prioritizes calculated progression of load & intensity, injury risk reduction, performance transfer to the ice, with individualization earlier in off-season to bring up areas of weakness.
Performance Monitoring: Key metrics are tracked throughout both the Spring & Summer phases to ensure athletes are progressing appropriately and recovering effectively. Training loads & exercise prescriptions are often adjusted based off what this data is telling us.
Phase 1 - Spring: correct→ restore→ build
-
Focus: rebuilding, correcting and laying the foundation for future higher intensity training after the competitive season.
-
Logistics: being membership based allows for flexibility while athletes at this age are still in school and may be competing in other spots.
-
Primary Objectives:
-
Restoring mobility & movement quality.
-
Addressing individual weaknesses & asymmetries.
-
Re-establishing strength.
-
Improving tissue capacity & durability.
-
Increasing training volume & work capacity.
-
Outcome: Sets the base required for higher intensity training later in the off-season.
Phase 2 - Summer: load→ accelerate→ transfer→ compete
-
Focus: this is the performance-driven portion of the off-season, designed to transfer gains in physical development to on-ice performance.
-
Logistics: Athletes train at a set schedule which drives competition in a high-performance environment during a key training window in the off-season.
-
Primary Objectives:
-
Maximal strength & power development.
-
Acceleration, speed & change of direction work.
-
Hockey-relevant conditioning.
-
Competitive training environment.
-
Outcome: prepares athletes to head to training camps strong, fast, conditioned & durable.
